Consumer and Carer Engagement Project
The National Mental Health Commission is bringing together mental health experts with a lived experience of mental illness and/or suicide to co-design a new Consumer and Carer Engagement Project to enhance opportunities for participation.
The Consumer and Carer Engagement Project Steering Group will guide the project and provide advice to the Commission on what we can do together that supports reform implementation.
The Project Steering Group will examine consumer and carer engagement policies and practices across key parts of the mental health and suicide prevention systems.
The first meeting of the Project Steering Group was held in January 2017, at the National Mental Health Commission in Sydney. The project was chaired by Commissioner Jackie Crowe.
"Even the most disadvantaged Australians should be able to lead a 'contributing life,' whatever that means for them and this simple goal will be our touchstone and yardstick."
