The Commission’s response to the Financial Services Council’s (FSC) draft Life Insurance Code of Practice 2.0 (Code) highlights a number of areas for strengthening in the draft Code, including: commitment to comply with anti-discrimination law; supports for insurance customers experiencing mental ill-health or who have experienced suicidal ideation; considering the needs of families, carers and support people; taking into account protective factors among other individual circumstances when considering applications for cover and claims; and using language that reduces stigma.
