Managers and mentally healthy workplaces

Managers play a unique role in promoting mentally healthy workplaces – from helping to identify and address work-based mental health risks to promoting positive policy at the organisational level.

This practical guide has been developed to help managers create a mentally healthy workplace and outlines actions they can take at the organisation, team and individual level.

At the organisation level, the guide explores how managers can advocate within the leadership team for a greater focus on mentally healthy workplaces.

At the team level, the guide helps managers understand and act on potential hazards to mental health, and recognise and support workers experiencing mental health challenges.

At the individual level, the guide supports managers to protect their own mental health, including managing stress and prioritising self-care.
